College Central is designated by East Sussex County Council as a pupil referral unit for children and young people with a range of special educational needs. A significant number of our pupils have behavioural, emotional and social difficulties as well as other complex Special Educational Needs.  College Central supports pupils through their transition back into main stream school following their permanent exclusion. Whilst the post can be demanding it also carries many rewards. We are seeking a Key Stage 4/Pastoral support Mentor to work across all of our sites and support our drive towards Outstanding. The successful applicant should be a resilient individual with experience of working with students in formal or informal educational settings.  They should have proven experience of developing positive relationships with students, of providing a positive role model for a wide range of students and for modelling and upholding high expectations of behaviour. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of barriers to learning for our students and should have strategies to support them in overcoming these barriers.  This is a key appointment to our newly formed Pastoral team working with Deputy Head (Attendance & Safety), HLTA (Pastoral) and the Vulnerable Girls team.
