Bourne is a popular, diverse, happy and challenging school. We are situated in the heart of Eastbourne, within commuting distance of Brighton and Hove. Our community represents many cultures, languages and ethnic groups, and our families are very supportive of our work. The school was inspected in May 2013 and was judged to require special measures. Since then, the leadership of the school has been strengthened by the arrival of a new headteacher and the school is improving rapidly. Our monitoring report from July 2014, recognised that the school continues to make progress towards the removal of special measures and noted that "The headteacher has ensured that his ambitious vision for improving teaching and pupils' achievement - shared by staff - is put into action." The previous monitoring report also noted that "Pupils are typically polite, welcoming and helpful."
