We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Teacher in Charge of Music for our new and expanding 4-19 free school.

This is an exciting time in the development of Gildredge House and we are looking for someone who is willing to embrace new initiatives and take our students’ musical learning to another level.

Do you have experience of delivering outstanding Music provision? We want you to make music a central part of daily life within our school and to inspire high levels of participation, enjoyment and attainment in our students. You will be committed to establishing a strong reputation for Music within the school.

Above all you are a talented and enthusiastic musician and teacher, able to motivate and involve students at all levels of interest and skill. Ideally you will have experience and understanding of the GCSE and A Level curriculum, including evidence of high student achievement. With our Sixth Form opening in September 2015, with the opportunity to teach Music A’ Level, and our first cohort of secondary students reaching Year 9, there is huge potential for the successful applicant to ‘hit the ground running’.

Perhaps you can also offer us the additional experience of teaching in the primary phase (age 5-11). Most importantly, we would expect you to contribute to our rich extra-curricular provision, offering outstanding opportunities to our students, with the potential for offering a vibrant calendar of musical productions and concerts.

Together with the Head of Performing Arts, you will contribute to the growth of a strong team of inspirational teachers, initially as Teacher in Charge and ultimately Head of Department: Music. You will ensure that our students enjoy and achieve highly in their musical learning.

Our school motto is ‘Aspire’ and to that end we follow the simple view that students who enjoy the subject will engage in it, grow in confidence and will have the opportunity to excel.

If you feel that you can play a strong and supportive role, both through the curriculum and also the many extra-curricular activities we offer, please get in touch with us.

Gildredge House offers:

•      continuity of education for boys and girls aged 4-19

•      an expectation of high academic standards leading to 6th Form studies

•      small class sizes

•      strong discipline

•      excellent pastoral care

•      an extended school day for older students

•      supervised prep

•      a broad range of extra-curricular activities

•      parent and community involvement

Gildredge House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Offer of appointment is subject to references and a satisfactory DBS check.

Closing date: 12.00pm on Friday 13th March 2015.

Interview date: To be advised, but likely week begining 16th March 2015.
