Bourne is a popular, diverse, happy and challenging school. We are situated in the heart of Eastbourne, within commuting distance of Brighton and Hove. Our community represents many cultures, languages and ethnic groups, and our families are very supportive of our work.
The school was inspected in November 2014 and was removed from Special Measures. The report says that: “All areas of the school’s work have improved since the previous inspection. Leaders have good capacity to improve the school further.” It also says that “Staff share a determination to improve outcomes for pupils and are proud to work at the school. Together, they have ensured that the school is a harmonious community where pupils behave respectfully and enjoy learning.” A key area for further development is to ensure that “all pupils make good or better progress in English and mathematics, with a particular focus on the achievement of boys in reading and writing, and the achievement of those pupils who are new to learning English.”
