The Thriving Business Specialism includes licensing, food inspections, pollution, business crime and health and safety.

As Senior Specialist Advisor you will provide comprehensive, customer focused specialist advice within the Council, to elected members and externally. You will manage contentious applications, cases and inspections. This will include presenting to committee and representing the Council in court.

You will also provide performance and quality control for the overall delivery of the specialism , working with teams across the Council, providing technical mentoring and support, encouraging the transfer of knowledge, improving performance and the customer journey.

You will also take responsibility for delegated corporate projects and strategies.

With a degree or relevant professional qualification, you will have a track record of achievement in, and an in depth knowledge of, licensing issues.

Some knowledge of the working practices of the other specialisms in Thriving Businesses would be advantageous. Strong communication and negotiation skills with an ability to form excellent working partnerships, you will be able to lead, steer and motivate teams working in a ‘matrix’ environment effectively.
