Applications are invited for the post of Learning Mentor to work with an allocated caseload of students supporting them and their parents with learning, attendance, behaviour, motivation and homework. This post is fully funded by the Pupil Premium grant. 

As such, the post-holder will be required to demonstrate the impact they have in improving educational outcomes for our students who are experiencing financial disadvantage.  It is a national pattern that students who are entitled to free school meals are less likely to attend well, behave well, or do as well academically as their more affluent peers.  The role of the Learning Mentor will be critical in changing this pattern at Ratton, so that every child has the same opportunities and life chances.

Previous knowledge or experience of working with children is essential, as is an unshakeable commitment to the belief that every child has the potential to succeed.  The successful applicant must enjoy the challenges and demands of working with reluctant students and be able to balance the competing demands of the different aspects of the job. This role may also suit a recently qualified graduate or someone who is looking for a route into teaching.
