About the Role

TEACHING ASSISTANT – Fixed Term to July 2017

Required for September 2016. Pay scale: WPA Grade 4 16,201-18,341per annum pro rata, 27 hours per week, on a 43.2 week per year contract. The pro rata salary range for this role is 9,822-11,119 per annum.

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, confident Teaching Assistants to join our team of professionals as soon as possible. The key role of a Teaching Assistant is to work closely with our students across a range of subjects to support our students’ learning. The role of a TA includes:

-           Supporting groups of students or individuals in their acquisition and development of knowledge and skills.

-           Developing an understanding of the needs of the students to be supported. You will also be asked to work with students who have specific learning difficulties e.g. Dyslexia, Autism, Downs Syndrome.

-           Building students’ self-esteem and confidence.

-           Ensuring that students make progress within a good learning environment.

-          Monitoring, recording and reporting on student progress.

-           Establishing a supportive relationship with named students with SEND.

-           To be able to adapt to the developing needs of the students and the requirements of the department.

The ability to work calmly and often under pressure is essential. A good working knowledge of current ICT packages is required and previous experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage. However we have a strong commitment to developing our staff so you can also expect to engage in a range of training activities.
