About the Role

Bourne is a happy, popular, diverse and challenging school. We are situated in the heart of Eastbourne, within commuting distance of Brighton and Hove. Our community represents many cultures, languages and ethnic groups, and our families are very supportive of our work.

The school was inspected in November 2014 and was removed from Special Measures. Leadership and Management, Behaviour and Safety and The Early Years were judged to be good. The inspection report says that: “All areas of the school’s work have improved since the previous inspection. Leaders have good capacity to improve the school further.” It also says that “Staff share a determination to improve outcomes for pupils and are proud to work at the school. Together, they have ensured that the school is a harmonious community where pupils behave respectfully and enjoy learning.”

We are proud to have:- - A vibrant and diverse school community - Enthusiastic, friendly and well-mannered children - Hardworking, dedicated and supportive staff - Positive relationships with parents - A commitment to continuing professional development

We are seeking to appoint an Individual Needs Assistant to work as a member of our Inclusion Team at this happy and rapidly improving school, supporting a range of children with Special Educational Needs. You should have good interpersonal skills and a calm approach to working with children and with other adults. We are looking for someone who is cheerful, lively, reliable, flexible and hard working.

Bourne Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and references.

Please complete the attached application form and send it to Clair Haynes via email. Please also use this email address if you have any questions.

The closing date for applications is 3.30pm on Wednesday 7th September, with interviews to be arranged.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.   This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
