Care for the Carers is an equal opportunities employer.
There are approximately 60,000 unpaid carers in East Sussex, looking after a relative or friend who could not manage without their help. Carers’ own health and wellbeing often suffers as a result of their caring role.
About the Role
Care for the Carers would like to engage a freelance Writer in Residence to support unpaid carers in East Sussex to develop their writing skills, and to help the charity in its wider communications, fundraising and marketing.
We are looking for a writer to devise and manage the following key projects, among other work:
Our Writer in Residence will be a published and credible writer who can teach, with relevant experience that equips them to fulfil all of the tasks requested. We require a writer who is flexible in supporting people to fulfil their writing ambitions and who supports and nurtures creativity.
Care for the Carers’ Board of Trustees has invested in this post for six months (50 days). We are hopeful that within that time we will secure longer-term investment for this project, and anticipate this being a one-year residency. The fee will be 125 a day, with access to a small budget for creative projects. You will be able to claim reasonable expenses in line with our expenses policy. You will spend some time in the office, as well as working remotely. You will be expected to undergo a DBS check as part of the recruitment process.
Care for the Carers is committed to valuing diversity.
Care for the Carers has a number of measures in place to support the carers in its employment including carers leave.
