For an informal discussion, please contact Richard Hayes, Practice Manager, Eastbourne & South Wealden Neighbourhood Support Team

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Social Workers to join the Eastbourne / South Wealden Neighbourhood Support Team.

You will be part of a busy, dynamic and established team developing new ways of working with the people of Eastbourne and its environs. In these demanding times we are looking for Social Workers who can be creative in their approach to the needs of our community and build on peoples’ assets as well as fulfilling the statutory requirements of completing Social Care Assessments, Carers’ Assessments and Mental Capacity Assessments.

Safeguarding Adults is a major part of the role, where you will be required to act as an Enquiry Officer, fostering an outcomes and person centred approach to safeguarding work.

You should have in depth experience of risk assessment, working with people who have complex care and support needs and have a good knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedures and Carers’ legislation.

A commitment to your own professional development is also required and in return good support and encouragement is always available.

Additional Information

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
