About the Role

Carer Support Workers

8 hours per week

(two posts: one Maternity Leave 12 month contract,

one 18 month fixed term contract)

Salary: 20,253 per annum, pro rata

Care for the Carers are seeking to recruit two Carer Support Workers for 8 hours per week each - one worker on a 12 month fixed term contract to provide Maternity Leave cover, and one on an 18 month fixed term contract - to join our established outreach team providing information and advice to unpaid carers across East Sussex. We would consider applications from individuals seeking to work 16 hours per week to undertake both these posts.

The role involves providing one-to-one support to carers by phone and face-to-face, as well as joint working with our partners in the NHS, Adult Social Care and the voluntary sector.

The successful applicant/s will be a skilled communicator/s with excellent IT and organisational skills. Experience of working in the community will be a distinct advantage, as is experience of advocating on behalf of vulnerable clients. An understanding of carers’ needs and rights is essential.

As you will be required to travel within East Sussex, being a car driver is essential. This post is subject to a DBS check.

Care for the Carers is committed to valuing diversity.

Care for the Carers has a number of measures in place to support the carers in its employment including carers leave.

Care for the Carers is an equal opportunities employer.

There are approximately 60,000 unpaid carers in East Sussex, looking after a relative or friend who could not manage without their help. Carers’ own health and wellbeing often suffers as a result of their caring role.
