About the Role

Heron Park offers a unique opportunity for passionate and talented teachers to transform the lives and life chances of our children.  Our children are polite, well behaved and keen to learn and the school has a thriving positive atmosphere.

You will be well supported by a team approach to working and dedicated and strong leadership that encompasses a school ethos of constant improvement.  We have phase specific subject leads for Maths and English that support staff and promotes high expectations.  Creativity, effort and progress are recognised and rewarded which results in good work, good behaviour and positive outcomes for pupils and staff alike.  Some subjects such as MFL are delivered in conjunction with specialists and coaches who work closely with the teachers.

Our curriculum is innovative, varied and hands-on, and we encourage a "can-do" attitude.  We are a Primary Writing Project school (Talk for Writing) and have implemented the Numicon Maths programme.  We deliver our unique Paragon Humanities curriculum where children explore essential questions about the world around them through time and place.

We have wonderful facilities, both in our roomy building and in our outdoor areas, including two playgrounds, a good sized field and pond area. We share our school with goats, budgies, guinea pigs, lizards, tortoises, fish and many more animals!

We would like to welcome a new Class Teacher on to our enthusiastic and high performing staff team, to cover for a member of staff who will be taking maternity leave.

We expect teachers to deliver great lessons and we offer plenty of professional development opportunities, both in house and further afield. We are part of a multi academy trust and communication between our family of schools creates plenty of scope to compare and display good practice in each.

If you have a positive, forward thinking attitude to teaching, are passionate about what you do and would like to join our team, please arrange a visit to the school and see what we do.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

THIS SCHOOL IS COMMITTED TO SAFEGUARDING AND PROMOTING THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE AND EXPECTS ALL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS TO SHARE THIS COMMITMENT.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System. From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
