About the Role

Willingdon Primary School

‘Learning together, Learning for Life’

Willingdon Primary School has made significant strides on its journey to excellence.

In March 2016 OFSTED graded the school as Good in all areas with some significant areas of improvement.

Willingdon Primary School is set at the foot of the Downs and serves the local community.

We are a strong team who strive to provide a rich and inspiring curriculum that is fully inclusive.

Our specialist provision for deaf children is wholly integrated and children and staff from the Hearing Support Facility are part of the whole community with many children and staff learning to sign.

Following the retirement of the Deputy Head teacher, the Governors are seeking to appoint a committed, inspirational, innovative and talented Deputy Headteacher who has a good knowledge of teaching across the primary age range.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Headteacher, teaching and support staff team.

As Deputy Headteacher you will support the Headteacher in providing the strategic leadership and direction required to deliver and further develop the School’s strategy for continuous improvement.

With a commitment to excellence in learning and teaching you will share our passion for raising aspirations and increasing the life chances through education for all children.

For further details and an application pack, please contact the school office

Please see our website for more details about the school

For informal enquiries and to discuss the post in more detail please contact Judith Cooper, Headteacher, through the school office

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits. This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
