Salary: Starting Salary depending on qualifications and experience: three point salary range starting at 13 on the Gildredge House Support Staff Scale for 2016/17: 12,573 pro rata (15,990 Full Time Equivalent) rising to point 15: 13,071 pro rata (16,623 Full Time Equivalent). Note: Governors have recently approved an additional 0.5% pay increase in addition to the national standard of living increase in 2017-18.

Contract type: Permanent, 41 weeks per year (includes 36.4 weeks of term-time plus 1 week of INSET plus 3.6 weeks’ paid holiday) Working pattern: Full time, 35 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidates to the post of Individual Needs Assistant to support individual students in secondary classes for our new and expanding 4-19 free school.

Our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement (June 2015) was only the start of the story. The challenge is to sustain and embed this excellence through every aspect of Gildredge House as it grows to full capacity in 2018/19.

Your role will be essential in working with a student with additional needs to ensure that he / she not only learns effectively, but also enjoys their school experience and takes a full part in wider opportunities. The successful candidate will work on a one to one basis with a student both in and out of lessons and during social time to make sure their time at school is as enjoyable and meaningful as possible.

As an Individual Needs Assistant in the Middle School (Years 7 and 8) at Gildredge House you may be expected to work with an individual student or pair of students in the same class, but with the flexibility and skills to work within one of our Year 9 or 10 (Upper School) classes in the future.
