About the Role

This is a permanent post and an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher with leadership experience and ambition to further their career to take on this new post within our Federation and make a real difference to our pupils’ life chances. We would like to appoint a passionate, talented and committed Assistant Headteacher who will have operational and strategic responsibility for leading Inclusion across the Roselands and Stafford federation.

Roselands Infant School and Stafford Junior School are situated a ten minute walk from each other, a ten minute walk from the beautiful beach and a twenty minute walk from Eastbourne’s Grand Pier.

The federation of Roselands and Stafford schools in September 2015 brought with it many opportunities for collaborative working between the two schools and others in our local area for the benefit of all pupils within the Federation. The federation has brought about the chance to build on the strengths of each school and there is a real feeling of optimism about the future of both schools.

The Assistant Headteacher will be a member of the Federation Leadership team and of the Senior Leadership Teams at both schools. They will be responsible for leading Inclusion across the Federation supported by an Assistant to the Inclusion Manager in each school. They will lead provision for SEND, PP, EAL and behaviour and will line manage teams of support staff in each school. They will also support the Head of School at Stafford and the Deputy Head at Roselands with Child Protection and will be a deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Our new Assistant Head for Inclusion will: - Work in partnership with the SLT and Governors - Lead on SEND, PP, EAL and behaviour - Ideally have previous experience in a leadership role and have a good understanding of SEND practice - Have a record of excellent classroom practice with high expectations for all pupils - Demonstrate outstanding organisational, leadership and interpersonal skills - Have the ability to motivate and support all members of our federation We can offer you: - Excellent career development opportunities including funding the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination - Training to be a Designated Safeguarding Lead - A full time assistant in each school - Teams of talented and committed Teaching Assistants in each school - Pupils who are polite, friendly and enthusiastic about their learning - A warm welcome at both schools

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

The Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations. 

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
