The Sussex MS Centre supports over 500 people from Sussex and southern Surrey whose lives have been affected by Multiple Sclerosis, offering a range of services to lessen the impact that MS has on their lives. We are seeking a new Centre Manager who will have responsibility for ensuring that the Centre provides a safe and welcoming environment.  Main duties include the operational and financial management of the Centre, but being such a small charity you will need to be flexible and adaptable. You will work closely and cooperatively with our Board of Trustees to ensure effective governance and effective delivery of services. You will be expected to communicate with members and our large team of volunteers in an open and helpful manner and feedback concerns or suggestions to Trustees.

The Sussex MS Centre is a user led, self-help community started in 1983 by people with MS and their families.  We have grown into a vibrant Centre with the central aim of improving the health, wellbeing and life chances of our members who live with a range of disabilities.  We have operated a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber since our foundation and this remains our core activity.  In response to demand over the years, we have added a range of individual treatments and of specialised exercise classes. We have a large multipurpose gym floor, and three individual therapy rooms which are in constant use.  All the services we offer are chosen by our members to provide symptom relief, slow progression and ward off secondary disabilities.

A vital part of our service is the engagement and inclusion of people with MS and their families, ensuring that they feel comfortable and able to contribute to the running and development of their Centre.  We have grown into the varied and lively Centre of today by valuing and using their experience, knowledge and skills.  A major role of the Centre Manager is to encourage our members to socialise with their peers and to guide and support volunteers.

The Centre Manager post is a complex role and training will be given as necessary. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
