About the Role

MIDDAY SUPERVISOR PERMANENT POST, 7½ HOURS PER WEEK, 12NOON – 1.30PM STARTING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Bourne is a happy, popular, diverse and challenging school. We are situated in the heart of Eastbourne, within commuting distance of Brighton and Hove. Our community represents many cultures, languages and ethnic groups, and our families are very supportive of our work.

The school was inspected in October 2016 and was judged to be a good school. The report highlighted many strengths. It says that ‘The behaviour of pupils is good’. The inspectors noted that ‘Pupils are proud of their school and want to do their best’. The inspectors noted that ‘The school’s inclusive atmosphere and its broad curriculum contribute well to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.’ They were also very positive about leadership across the school, saying ‘The headteacher provides strong leadership and direction for the school. All members of staff share his high aspirations for pupils and understand their role in ensuring that all groups achieve well….Governors share senior leaders’ high expectations of staff and pupils.’

We are proud to have:- - A vibrant and diverse school community - Enthusiastic, friendly and well-mannered children - Hardworking, dedicated and supportive staff - Positive relationships with parents

We are looking to appoint a permanent Midday Supervisor, to work from 12noon to 1.30pm, 5 days per week (7.5 hours per week) term time only. The job would involve supervising the children throughout the lunch period, in the playground, dining hall or classrooms. Experience of working in schools in a similar role would be a definite advantage, but we are looking for a team worker who will help make lunchtimes enjoyable and safe for the children.

Bourne Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Please note school will be closed until 31 August 2017; you can contact the school after this date if you have any questions.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

Additional Information

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.   This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau).
