New Aldi Store to Open Creating Jobs in Eastbourne

German owned supermarket Aldi has revealed plans to open a new store in Eastbourne. The chain has written to local residents to gage an idea of their thoughts surrounding the opening of a new store. Aldi plan to invest a large sum of money into developing a derelict site near Hampden Park in Eastbourne, very close to other major stores such as B&Q.

If the plans go ahead, the new Aldi store will create around 40 new jobs in Eastbourne. The supermarket has vowed to prioritise job applications from local job seekers. If all goes to plan, the multi-million pound investment will see a new low cost yet high quality shopping option for locals, along with ample parking spaces for shoppers.

Aldi are in the process of approaching locals to get a feel for the general consensus around opening a new store. The supermarket have been leaflet dropping to help to understand the opinions of the general public in Eastbourne. If they receive a positive response, and the development plans go through the approval process quickly, Aldi could be set to open in Eastbourne by 2015.

Other major supermarkets in the local area are understandably objecting to the development, particularly as Aldi offers good quality food at considerably lower prices. The area Aldi wants to develop is currently for businesses and industrial use, which could be a problem for the supermarket. Should the plans go ahead, it’s likely there will be an increase in traffic to the area, which some locals may not approve of.

If the new Aldi store opens it could be a positive boost for the local job market, providing plenty of great new jobs in Eastbourne. Aldi are well known for paying their staff well, and therefore the jobs will be snatched up by locals.
